đŸ©· Why I Walk

Every October, I lace up my sneakers, clip Mojo’s leash, and walk — not because it’s easy, but because it means something. Because it has to.

I walk for everyone who’s been told “it’s just a lump” before it wasn’t.

For everyone whose life split into before and after.

For everyone sitting in a waiting room right now, clutching results, pretending not to shake.

I walk because I’m still here. Because I can. Because there was a time I wasn’t sure I’d make it to this year’s walk — and if I can take one more step, I’ll make it count.

I walk for the women who never got to.

For the friends who finished treatment but still flinch every time a scan rolls around.

For the girls who think they’re too young to worry about breast cancer.

For the ones who didn’t have a voice loud enough to be heard by the system that failed them.

I walk because research isn’t finished.

Because stage four still doesn’t have a cure.

Because we deserve better than “awareness” — we deserve answers.

And I walk for me.

For the body that’s been through hell and keeps showing up.

For the version of me who once thought she had to be strong all the time.

For the girl who’s still learning that being tired doesn’t mean giving up.

When I see my team — the pink shirts, the signs, the smiles — I remember that this fight is bigger than one person. It’s a movement. It’s hope on two feet (and sometimes four paws).

So if you’ve ever wanted to make a difference, this is it.

Join my team. Walk beside us.

You don’t need money, just heart — it’s free to register, and every step matters.

Because the day will come when we don’t have to walk for breast cancer — we’ll walk away from it.

I’m Izzy

Welcome to mojo and the mess, This isn’t the blog I ever expected to write — but it’s the one I needed.

I’m Izzy, a twenty-something living (and dying) with terminal cancer, navigating the messy, heartbreaking, unexpectedly beautiful in-between. Here, you’ll find raw reflections, real talk, dog snuggles (shoutout to Mojo), and the unfiltered truth about what it’s like to face the end of your life before it really got going.

This space is for the ones who’ve felt forgotten, the ones who don’t know what to say, and the ones who are still holding on. It’s not always pretty, but it’s always honest.

Thanks for being here. You’re part of the mess now — and I mean that in the best way.
