Every October, I lace up my sneakers, clip Mojoâs leash, and walk â not because itâs easy, but because it means something. Because it has to.
I walk for everyone whoâs been told âitâs just a lumpâ before it wasnât.
For everyone whose life split into before and after.
For everyone sitting in a waiting room right now, clutching results, pretending not to shake.
I walk because Iâm still here. Because I can. Because there was a time I wasnât sure Iâd make it to this yearâs walk â and if I can take one more step, Iâll make it count.
I walk for the women who never got to.
For the friends who finished treatment but still flinch every time a scan rolls around.
For the girls who think theyâre too young to worry about breast cancer.
For the ones who didnât have a voice loud enough to be heard by the system that failed them.
I walk because research isnât finished.
Because stage four still doesnât have a cure.
Because we deserve better than âawarenessâ â we deserve answers.
And I walk for me.
For the body thatâs been through hell and keeps showing up.
For the version of me who once thought she had to be strong all the time.
For the girl whoâs still learning that being tired doesnât mean giving up.
When I see my team â the pink shirts, the signs, the smiles â I remember that this fight is bigger than one person. Itâs a movement. Itâs hope on two feet (and sometimes four paws).
So if youâve ever wanted to make a difference, this is it.
